Back again!

We're back from Walt Disney World & our honeymoon. We had a wonderful time. The best ever!

I spent all of today updating all the Apple gadgets because of iCloud. It took most of the day to download & then install Lion. Lion is required for iCloud as is IO 5. Then I had to update all the apps & then download & install IO 5 on the iPods, iPads & iPhones what a project! Then I can migrate to iCloud. I've been a MobileMe user since before it was MobileMe so I've got to deal with that. So far, so good but it is time consuming to do the upgrades.

Here's a pic from the WDW Swan - facing the WDW Dolphin. We love staying there - they even upgraded us to a mini suite as we where on our honeymoon.

I got to ride all my favorite rides: R'n'R Roller coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, & Test Track.

The Food & Wine Festival was going on - its always a fun time.

- Enjoy!

ARGH! with iPhoto

deadnettles
I am battling with iPhoto '09. You see, normally I like to wait for several months (typically at least 6 months) until I get a software upgrade. I didn't wait with the new iLife '09 for Mac. NO - this time I had to get it right away when it came out... so now iPhoto is making me nuts with this new feature that should be wonderful - the upload to Flickr. I import photos from my camera into iPhoto, then can upload them right into Flickr. Great, right? Not so! I've got photos disappearing from Flickr. Photos disappearing from iPhoto. YIKES! The Apple discussion board seems to have a few bugs reported with iPhoto '09. Nothing dreadfully bad. I mean, I have my time capsule back up so I can recover any "misplaced" photos. Its the hassle. I am so used to no hassle with my Mac. Happiness, almost bliss! So much for the wonderful upload feature. I'll have to do it the old fashioned way which takes just a few seconds more. Hopefully soon they will have it resolved. Ok - enough ranting and raving for now. I am attaching (hopefully it won't disappear!) a photo of a lovely flower with the dreadful name of deadnettle. They bloom from spring through fall. (I do love flowers!)

Enjoy,

iPhoto '09

I don't think I've mentioned the new upgrade to iPhoto to any of you who are Mac users out there. I got it a few weeks ago and although I was a bit mad at it at first (it blew away the tags I had on my photos in my library - NAUGHTY iPhoto!), but now I just love it! I works seemlessly with Flickr. Only one thing wrong with that - I've blown through my allotment of free uploads for the month already (and it's only the 7th). Yikes! I guess I've have to upgrade to Pro now. Geez... And the face recognition technology that it uses it fantastic. It looks at your photos and recognizes everyone in the photos once you put one of the names into the photo. It needs help with a few, but it is amazing. I even use it on my dogs, although it doesn't seem to work with them so well. LOL ;-)

Today it is raining cats and dogs. We are supposed to get several inches of rain over the next two days. I need a boat, not a car. Good weekend to stay home and work on art, right? Like I need an excuse... still making cards. I just love the Stampin' Up set, Bella's Blossoms. Very eclectic posies with versatile sayings to boot. What's not to like about that?

Another note: I just love the article that Beryl Taylor has in the latest issue of Cloth Paper Scissors about working with metal. I will be trying that for sure. If you've read my blog you already know I'm a big fan of Beryl's work. She will be at the Make it University at the International Quilt Festival in Chicago in April. If you are in the area, I highly recommend it. It is so much fun and you get so many ideas for projects. The shopping is fabulous!

iMac Saga Continues

last night we went to pick up the imacs. old & new. luckily, at the apple store they suggested we try it out while we were there to make sure it was properly set up. It was not. again, things not right - e-mail, itunes, safari bookmarks. anyway, they had one of their mac experts sit with us and go through to set up the machine properly. the .mac e-mail account he was unable to get squared away, so i'm going back in saturday morning to meet with the same mac expert so he can get it fixed. i can say that although they botched up the initial set up, the management at the store has worked to resolve the situation. there main problem is that they are just SO busy there - just about too busy to give the attention to the customer that at least i have come to expect from the apple store. as the hardware & software gets more complicated, either due to set up, or just because of the complex nature of it all, you've got to give the customer the attention to be able to use & fully enjoy this very expensive toy!
in the meantime, here i sit, typing on my beautiful new imac and yes, i am enjoying it! once i take my digital scrapbooking class in a few weeks and begin to utilize photoshop elements, i'll enjoy it all the more. i did finally get to load my photos & movies from our vacation to walt disney world in december. OH - they turned out so beautiful. the color is so right, the depth of the resolution between the new 8 mp Panasonic camera and then the monitor on this imac - it's utterly breathtaking. in my usual style, i'm including a snapshot taken from the plane. on the return flight home as we flew over the golf of mexico.

if i only had more time to stay here & enjoy my new toy - but alas, i need to go off to work in order to pay for all this fun. besides, i wouldn't be able to purchase more art supplies without an income. not a busy day today at work, so it won't be too bad. and next week i'm off to florida again only this time for work. that means more clouds & sky shots from the airplane. good day to you!
