midwest travel problems

now i am really disturbed. i have real concerns about my upcoming vacation. the airline with which i've got tickets travel to to orlando in september is now saying that they will be canceling and rearranging scheduled flights beginning mid-september - right when i'm scheduled for my trip. that really stinks. they are taking the airplanes out of service that we will be flying on AND they will be discontinuing certain destinations. PLUS i found out that the travel insurance that i purchased with my trip package will not cover any additional costs associated with these changes to my airfare. doubly stinks.

feelin' bad - continued

good grief. this has been one heck of a bad year so far for me for sinus infections. this one is just hanging one. i am feeling a bit better since getting the antibiotics, but not as quick a recovery as usual. i felt better this morning, but have sunken since the noon hour. had a busy day at work. the usual stuff to deal with there. i am happy that the weekend has arrived. i am hoping to feel well enough to work on the projects i have going. my mind has been racing with ideas for my projects, but not enough energy to carry them out. i need to venture into the sewing/quilting part of this one project. that requires going up and down the stairs. not something i'm up to right now. i am looking forward to my first home cooked dinner tonight. spaghetti. home made. i can taste food again, and i wanted to make sure it wasn't something from mcdonalds or george webbs. marc doesn't cook. period. so when i don't, my menu selections are limited to restaurants around here.
don't get me wrong, marc does practically everything else around here. he does almost all of the cleaning, so i don't mind cooking. its only when i'm sick that it becomes an issue at all. otherwise, i cook. that's it. i like cooking.

next weekend is the art workshop i've been looking forward to for so long. i've got to feel better before then. that will be quite a long haul for us to drive out there. at least two hours or more. i hope there will not be road closures due to the flooding. it has been a major problem getting around the state the past couple of weeks. we are due for rain tonight and tomorrow, but i don't think they are calling for much. scattered showers.

boy oh boy, i just dread watching the news each night. it just brings more dreadful news about the economy. more job layoffs. prices going up. it just makes me feel old as it is reminiscent of the early 80's. i do not have fond memories of those times. i do not wish to relive them anytime soon. now my local airline is retiring it's planes used for most flights. not sure what that means. i'm supposed to go to orlando in september. i have tickets already, but they say they will not use the planes they have (that i'm scheduled to fly on) as they are not fuel efficient. they will retire them about the time i'm scheduled for my trip. what does this mean? i don't think it can be good news. i would think the route to orlando and particularly walt disney world would not be totally discontinued! every time i have flown that route the plane is totally packed to the brim. yikes. i do suppose that desperate times call for desperate measures. not sure what that means, but isn't that they usually say at times like these?! must remain optimistic. must do what we can to get through each day as it were the most important day of our lives. it will all work out in the end. there is new hope this year, as it is election year. change has to come one way or another which ever candidate gets into office. when times get bad, everyone craves change. it is the only thing that keeps people going, after all.

just don't get it

ok. i really should just go to bed now instead i'm blogging again. tgif. the economy is going to hell in a hand basket. at least that's what the news has to say. very depressing news on the economy today. difficult to be upbeat on that. especially when filling up the gas tank, like i had to do today. i'm always on the look out for a bargain, especially when it comes to art supplies. sales are the way to go now-a-days. we are heading down to illinois on sunday. there's an antique radio show there. it's supposed to rain, but hopefully it will not be a wash out. we already have the tickets to go.

good news: the peonies are starting to open as of today. that means summer is here. the irises are starting to bloom today too. even the siberian irises. i just love them. daffodils and siberian irises are my favorites. don't get me wrong - i love just about all flowers. especially my orchids (which are still blooming), but daffodils and siberian irises are the top on my list.  yesterday and today were HOT & HUMID. yesterday was worse of the two days. tonight its actually mild enough to have the windows open. there was more of a breeze, but it has subsided it seems. tonight i made for dinner, chicken breasts on the grill (my favorite) along with asparagus and salad - more of our CSA veggies. we've eaten most of them. we get the next delivery in a week. can't wait. i did give the rhubarb to a woman that i work with - i'm not all that fond of it and it's on my list of foods to avoid. besides, i don't need any more sweets than i already eat.

tomorrow marc will be busy for the majority of the day so i will have plenty of time to get some things done around the house and some art project time too. finally. i did do some creative work this week, including making a tiny scrapbook (keychain sized). it was very fun to do. i'm not really into the whole "scrap" thing, but i did love this. i have another one to make. maybe i can work (its not really "work") on that and/or the pet projects i've got going on. i'll try to post some photos this weekend.
