Time for Halloween?

Yes, if you read my blog, you know how much I love halloween. So it's never too early for halloween cards. Here is a Whipper Snapper one for you! I made this for the Whippersnapper summer card contest, but it was not a finalist. :( Maybe it's not cute enough - I'm not into cute! I like to think of it as tastefully scary! Oh well... next time. LOL

Halloween in April?

Well, it may be the week after Easter in your home, but here it is preparation time for Halloween. As I have decided this year that I want to enter challenges and submit my art for publication, I am working on some Halloween artwork as deadlines for fall publication is due within the next month. I am always busy with something! It is fun and it keeps me out of trouble, that's for sure. I am just giving you a peek of the initial stages, but as we have coffins, could skeletons be far behind? hehe... You will have to wait to see. I am still working on cards, I have found them to be rather addicting. I do feel the itch to work on an art quilt though. Hum... I will have to carve out some time for that. I am excited because Marc found me a most WONDERFUL cabinet that will be perfect for stamp storage. He is such a sweetie! I have also found this world called Facebook - found old friends (even from high school and college). Now that's cool. If you haven't tried it, check it out.

back from the world

i'm back from walt disney world. gosh, how i love going to the "not so scary halloween party!" we went twice this time and i thoroughly enjoyed both nights. we really missed staying at the swan - it is much more relaxing there than at the pop century, which is where we stayed this time. that place is as busy a the day after christmas sale - and this is their slow season!

even though walt disney world is known as the happiest place on earth, there is no place like home! i'm getting ready for work this morning, but looking forward to working on new projects and finishing up works in process. i went to artist and display yesterday and got a paper mache' jack o'lantern to decorate. i also got bethany lowe's new book: folk art halloween. she will be at artist and display on october 3rd for a book signing. i'm not always into the folk art thing, but i do like her halloween items laid out in the book. she uses a lot of polymer clay and paper clay in her projects. while at the art store yesterday, i also got some arches water color paper which was on sale half price. i also found a wonder stamp by magenta of a wren. i'd been looking for a wren stamp. 

once again i'm inspired by the patterns of the land i saw while flying. also many of the designs of disney are artistically inspiring. i think it would be so much fun to be a designer at disney. i've got to run now. work is calling me... 

jac head

i've been talking about the projects i'm working on... well i finally got around to providing you a photo of one of the things i've been working on - here is a "jac head". this is one of my prototypes. i'm in the process of perfecting them, but they are so fun to make. i currently use paperclay, but am going to also try paper mache. i am also working on cat heads. i've also been working on cards, especially since it's marc's birthday next week. marc has a truck that looks a lot like this stampin' up stamp of a truck. he just loves it. anyway, i am having fun with it - especially now that my studio is upstairs and seemingly more acceptable at various times. i can go in the studio and play around for a few minutes here and there when i can as opposed to having to find blocks of time to dedicate to a studio retreat in the basement. plus, i can see out the window!

i had my solatube installed late yesterday. i'm not used to light streaming into my bathroom yet. even today, on a cloudy/rainy day. it is nice that i don't have to turn on the light everytime i go in there now.

this is a halloween card i've been working on for some time. i really love this stamp. it has that vintage feel to it. i have a lot of halloween stamps. it is a fun holiday for stamping. usually colors are much more bold for halloween, so i thought i'd use pastels on this one. the stark contrast with the black feels right to me. i used copic markers on this.

i am finally feeling so much better now. just about back to normal now. glad it only lasted one week, whatever this was. i have my last digital scrapbooking class tomorrow night.
