and finally, it rains

it may be the beginning of august on the calendar, but at my house halloween is in full swing! i love halloween, just as much if not more than christmas. don't get me wrong, it's not that i'm a huge decorator... and if you drove by my house you'd be hard pressed to know about my interest in halloween. however, with the nightmare before christmas (nbc) being my favorite movie, i just get caught up in the season between halloween and christmas. why on earth do you think i prefer to go to walt disney world in september/october? i keep being told by WDW cast & guests that i need to go to disneyland just for the nbc ambiance. i will get there, i know i will. we thought about going this year, but keep returning to wdw. my art is so inspired by halloween and the dark side.  i am busy making fall & holiday items of all sorts. also easter and spring - cards, bottlecap art and other pieces that amuse me.

i thought you'd like to see how the garden is doing now. many pumpkins are sprouting up in the garden - this should make for a very fun fall. we are beginning to enjoy patty pans and tomatoes. cucumbers continue. the deer are enjoying my swiss chard :( it is a good thing i have more growing off of the patio that they do not disturb. wren scolds me when ever i tend to the garden as his bird house is not far from there. the lettuce& radishes remaining have gone to seed - that is the flowering that you see in the front of the garden. we've had one pepper with flowers remaining on the plant.

and today the rain came. since our flooding last month, we have had only a drizzle. today it is pouring again. we really need it. we await our new roof, within the next two weeks we should be hearing the bang, bang, bang of air guns on the roof. i am trying to get ahold of the solatube people to be able to get it installed in conjunction with the roof work. they've not returned my call from thursday. you'd think they would want to sell their product? i know not all contractors are reliable... now they are supposed to drop the solatube off next week tuesday. they need to mark where on the roof they want the unit installed. it will be in the main bathroom. can't wait - too bad i can't get one in the studio - think of the light flooding in. oh well, i do get eastern and southern exposure. i can't complain. so much to do and as usual, i'm running late.
