summer is on the way

wren is here! wren arrived on monday (5/5/08) this year. i just love wren. i am talking about house wrens...one of my favorite birds. the reason i love wrens is that they always seem so cheery. they sing so loudly, that it's hard to imagine that they are so tiny until you finally see them. i finally got a photo of wren this year, on the day he arrived. i like to think that he posed for his photo, as he gave me enough time to run to grab my camera and go outside for a few photos. in the photo here, wren (perched on top of the tiki torch on the left) is checking out the chickadee on the fence which surrounds the dog area in my backyard.  weather today could be worse. it is some what warm out, maybe 60's, but very cloudy as if it could storm at any moment. it's been like that since yesterday evening. they are calling for rain, but so far it has held off. now that wren is here, i know that summer is on it's way. that's a good thing.
