beautiful sunny day

it's actually too bad that its so beautiful out today - it's thursday and of course, i'll be stuck at work all day. the other day i did get some studio time. i began working on a painted/collaged fabric piece. it has just begun, but looks cool already. i need to layer more paint onto it in the next couple of days. 

the trees are all blooming in the back yard. i've got a couple of red jade crabapple trees (weeping, of course), and a few red bud trees. i just love them. the japanese lilac won't bloom for another month and the lilacs are just developing their buds now. its a colorful place, the backyard is, in the spring time. 

i am so glad that tomorrow is friday. i have stolen a few moments here and there to work on a painted fabric collage. i'm having so much fun with it. i ended up bringing the paints and supplies and spreading them out on the dining table so i can paint there. its much easier and the light is good because its right underneath the chandelier. i must work on it over the weekend. i cannot wait to get to the quilting part. its been awhile since i used my sewing machine. i love quilting. i love the whole process. 

9:40 p.m. today was kind of a strange day. i got some painting done this morning, had a busy but unproductive day at work, and for whatever reason, marc and i decided to buy a gps unit tonight.  we have been thinking about it for some time, but finally went and got one. its a garmin nuvi 260. i think it will work fine. i hope so. its pretty cool. i'm downloading a map update right now. good grief, it takes almost and hour to download. that's a lot of data!

we will get our use out of it. we love to just drive. of course with the cost of gas, we do it very rarely now. not like we used to do. we used to go away all weekend. i do have my trip for the art workshop coming up next month. hopefully it will help for that. more toys. :) i do like technology...

yesterday i ordered a swim suit from llbean. i do like their products. i had a gift certificate from them and couldn't decide what to get. i need a decent swimsuit. i figure i'll get to wear it while we are in florida. still don't know if i'm going to the conference in florida in september. it probably won't be for another month or more before i know for sure. hopefully this weekend i'll have pictures of my latest project. i've got to make time this weekend to work on it. not that it's work - its fun when i do my art.
