new world

i have discovered a whole new digital world...

i had my first digital scrapbooking class last night. it has opened my eyes to the possibilities of what i can do with my imac & software. i came home & installed adobe photoshop elements on my new imac (i hadn't loaded it onto the new computer yet). i was up until almost midnite working on getting it on there so i can play with it. of course then it needed updates... they do have a new version coming out, but not until the end of march. there is always something new & improved just around the corner. i do like the instructor for this class. she is very upbeat. knows her stuff.

i was very impressed with alverno college! i graduated from there in 1995, & must admit that i haven't been back there often. haven't been involved with the school. they have put on some beautiful additions - a technology center (they so needed that) for one. i am so impressed with how they are growing. i have never been "academically proud" - like in grade school or high school. school spirit was never contagious to me. but i must admit that i was very proud walking through the halls there. seeing those young women there, busy working late studying. i know exactly how they feel. i hope it pays off for them. they at least have a chance. without an education, they don't have much of a chance, with one, they do. anyway, i digress...

we were using photoshop in class last night, i hope i don't get addicted to it - it's an expensive program. elements will have to do for me for now. it is quite powerful on its own. if i outgrow that, i'll have to consider it then. i'm a ways away from that now.

it was so funny this morning - on the news they announced that a beagle won the westminster dog show last night. jac was eating in front of the television and i said "jac, did you hear that? a beagle won westminster?" and he proceeded to run around the living room and bark like a mad dog. even ran to the window as if he was looking for someone. what a nut.

the weather yesterday was horrible. again. snow. fluffy stuff, but lots of it. several more inches. it's really cold too. hovering less than 10 degrees. bone chilling. i came home last night & was so cold i had to take a bath just to warm up. then i had a cup of tea. i've been drinking tea at night lately. mostly herbal tea. it seems to help me settle in for bedtime. of course then i need to get up during the night for a trip to the bathroom! such is life.

i did get a smidgeon of time in the studio yesterday. rubberstamp time before work. not much at all, but every moment counts. i have an early meeting today, so i don't have time to waste this morning. maybe at lunchtime i can spend in the studio. i must get out to feed the birds today. i've been putting it off because i'll have to tromp through over a foot of snow to get through the feeders. i don't know how high my boots go, but not that high. not looking forward to that. the birds will appreciate it though. i did fill the feeder in the front of the house, so they've got some food out there. they will need suet too. i feel so sorry for them in the cold. spring is around the corner, but right now it's not soon enough. it is beautiful outside, but not if you have to go outside in it. i have always wanted to try snow shoeing though. maybe i would appreciate the snow more then - but its so cold! then i would need snow pants. i do have a very warm winter coat (llbean.com). gotta love the bean.

more polymer clay photos - this was from a dragons rule! workshop with christi friesen at the bead & button show last year. it was very fun.
