no sign

no sign of kitty for past two days. maybe he and his sibling have moved on. i hope he's ok. he would make a great pet for some one out there.

i have moved on to other projects. marc is not pleased that i have taken over the dining room (which is part of the living room) to pursue my artistic endeavors. he is tolerating it on a temporary basis. today, at an antique store that was going out of business, i found an old, well built library table which not not huge that will hopefully fit in the office. problem is that the office is already full with stuff, so i need to rearrange and redistribute what's there to make room for my stuff now. my quilting studio will have to remain in the basement, but my mixed media "stuff" can hopefully be placed in the office/studio. this will work well for me as i use digital pieces in my mixed media. yikes! so many things to do...

happy birthday to jac

it's jac's 6th birthday today. he doesn't like getting his photo taken, always looks away. however, he looks rather regal in this photo nonetheless.

today midwest airlines is supposed to announce whatever changes they are going to make to their upcoming flight schedule. i've been on needles & pins not knowing if i will be able to take my vacation in september. hopefully, i will find out what will happen today. the speculation is that they will cut flights to the west coast, destinations they just recently added within the past year as well as flights to tampa & ft. meyers florida. orlando has not yet been mentioned. we will see.

as for my feral kitten outside, there is no sighting of him this morning. it is raining today. maybe he is hiding from the rain? i put some food out next to the back door as it is covered there. i will have to see later if it is eaten. last night his little brother or sister was out with him. he is just adorable too! of course, i don't think there is an ugly kitten. this other kitten is a light grey with white. he has white ears. he is more afraid of us than his black sibling. we can even step outdoors and he doesn't take off - just watches us. it is when we walk towards him that he runs and hides. he is not even afraid of the dogs when they bark. he was outside watching fireflies last night and ate more food we put out for him. i am hoping we can tame him enough to rescue him.

new found friend

look who was on my patio this morning! we have a lot of feral cats in our neighborhood and i believe this guy is one of them. he was perched up on my pond this morning, and i went out to put some cat food out for him - i was amazed, because although he ran and hid while i was outside, he came back a few minutes later to eat the food. after that, he curled up under our patio set and took a nap. when i came home for lunch, however, there was no sign of kitty. hopefully he is safe somewhere.

tonight we attended a city counsel meeting. they want to limit the number of cats & dogs you can own. 3 dogs and 1 cat. i understand where concern comes from: how many is too many animals? but three dogs and one cat? i would not be in violation, but there are many people who would be. the problem i have is that the city is not publicizing this potential change. very few people even know it is being considered. it is very unfair. they need to address the problems associated with animals (barking, loose dogs & cats - see above). we have so many faro cats that room the neighborhood - every month there are several in the yard. address that! not that fact that someone may have two or three cats in their home.

ok, off of my soapbox... i did some gesso and paint work today. i am working on backgrounds right now. collaging to follow. i like to work on many pieces at a time. that's just how i am. many projects going on all at once.

memorial day weekend at last

finally, a three day weekend. weather has been nice. stormed and rained last night, but should be ok during the day today. i was able to get a couple hours in the studio yesterday afternoon. ran errands yesterday morning. watched the rest of sweeney todd movie (tim burton) - it is by far burton's most bizarre movie so far. not sure if i mentioned, but i'm a huge tim burton fan and regardless of if i see his new releases at the movie theatre or not, i get the dvd's when they come out. i've got all of his movies on dvd. my favorites are the animated ones (nightmare before christmas, corpse bride), but i like the live action ones too. i just love his version of charlie and the chocolate factory. some people liked the previous version better. this one was much more adventurous. and who doesn't like pee wee's big adventure? no one i know. ;-)

today's feature photo is of beanie in the window. some people think it odd that while beanie is upstairs, we keep her in a kitty condo. she was raised as a kitten transported to an from the home she stayed at with her mom, dad and siblings in a crate and stayed sometime in a kitty condo while at the vet, where the maine coon cat breeder worked. crates (and kitty condos) are her home and sanctuary. unlike most cats, she is most at home while in a crate. she will spend many hours in this kitty condo which is her window to the world. she can watch the birds and the action outside. sometimes she doesn't want to come out of her kitty condo, even after being in there many hours. otherwise, she lives in our finished basement where she can roam to her heart's content. she is a sweetie pie kitty. one of the nicest, sweetest cats you'll ever met. extremely friendly, never mean. she talks too.
