finally summer time

summertime has finally arrived. my "chickens" are blooming in the cactus garden i have in the front of my home. it is early for them to bloom. usually they bloom in july/august. i will take flowers whenever they decide to come along. it has not been an altogether pleasant spring, with all of the rains we have received. enough already. rain in small doses is a good thing. we had down pours again on sunday. completely filled the birdbath (which was bone dry, sorry birdies) within less than an hour time span. quarter inch sized hail also. it melted right away. yesterday was beautiful and today is supposed to be as well. then the next few days are supposed to get hot and humid. i don't mind the heat, but am not fond of the humidity. especially since i myself am still under the weather. i am still fighting this bug, what ever it is that i have. sinuses in over drive and a nasty cough to boot. i need to feel completely better for the weekend. i have things to do and places to be! i have a meeting early this morning, which is why i'm here now. i've got to get moving this morning and be ready for this goofy meeting. in the meantime, i have stolen moments here and there the past week to do some art work every day. i am not completing a project each day, but completing bits of one larger project i have going. i watched lisa engelbrecht's dvd on calligraphy this weekend. it is wonderful. i had read an article by her in cloth paper scissors some time back and just couldn't grasp how she did that beautiful art work. her dvd is wonderful as she talks in detail how to do each step as she demonstrates the techniques.
